As I discussed in this blog post, I recently became the proud owner of fantastic new product called The Lightning Bug™. I’ve had my unit only for a short time and haven’t yet had an opportunity to get any good photos with it, but I’m very excited about its potential for photographing lightning, as well as other nighttime subjects. Any light source that produces heat is a possible trigger, so you can imagine all the possibilities that are going through my head. I’ve tested and played with The Lightning Bug™ enough to know that it is going to become a major part of night-photography arsenal, in addition to allowing me to photograph lightning during the day. In fact, I’m so struck by it (yep, my puns are intended) that I decided to offer the Lightning Bug™ in my online store.
As soon as I get a chance to try out all the possibilities and get some good shots of my own, I’ll write up detailed articles about using the Lightning Bug™. In the meantime, I want to share a few lightning photos from my friend Bill Lea. Bill used the Lightning Bug™ to capture these images in the Florida Everglades.
