Update: I wrote this blog on April 1, 2017. It’s a tradition for me to write an April Fools blog every year. I have a lot of fun with it. But several people didn’t realize that this was an April Fools and they’ve let me know about it. So, in the interest of self-preservation, I’m Read more... you know you want to.

Author’s note: I began my photography career in the mid-1980s. At that time, John Shaw and Galen Rowell were like gods to beginning nature photographers. Just saw this article from Newser. Got it from a link on USA Today. Don’t know anything about Newser, but I have to say I’m disappointed in USDA Today for linking to garbage. Are there no fact checkers left?
So, the article claims that moonbows are reliably visible at only two places in the world: Cumberland Read more... you know you want to.

In two months, my new North Carolina Waterfalls book will be out and everyone can finally see all the discoveries I’ve made since the last edition. I’ve been revealing a few of them periodically, but I’ve held back on the most amazing ones until now. I’m going to reveal the four most exciting discoveries I Read more... you know you want to.

Wanted to pass along this lens test from Ron Brunsvold. It will be of special interest to Canon shooters, but since Ron also tested lenses from Sigma, Tamron, and Rokinon, Dark Side (Nikon) shooters should take a look. I would assume that the lens characteristics are the same for both mounts.
