Night Photography Tips–Colorful Night Vision

You probably know that red light preserves night vision. A blast of white light not only ruins your night vision for many minutes, but also can temporarily blind you. Even if you’re using white light for light painting, it’s still a good idea to use a night-vision light for any setup work. Red lights are most common, but green and blue light also help preserve night vision.

Night Photography Tips is a nightly feature in which I give a quick tip for night photographers. It’s a way to share all the little things I do and think about in my night shooting, without boring you with my usual wordiness. If you have a tip you’d like to share, please email it to me and I might include it here, along with a link to your blog or website.
