Night Photography Tips–Instant Campfires

I love photographing camp scenes at night, but rarely do I stumble upon a good one for photography. Most of my camp scenes are setups. For the campfires, I use fire logs, like the ones you get at the grocery store. Pile a few sticks on them and they look perfectly real. To light them, I use a propane plumber’s torch—none of this whittling shavings for kindling nonsense. One push of a button and I have an instant campfire!

Night Photography Tips is a nightly feature in which I give a quick tip for night photographers. It’s a way to share all the little things I do and think about in my night shooting, without boring you with my usual wordiness. If you have a tip you’d like to share, please email it to me and I might include it here, along with a link to your blog or website.

Did you like this post? Well, I sure would appreciate it if you told your friends. Thanks!
