Night Photography Tips–Quick Access To Intervalometer & Other Gear

Wrap a piece of Velcro around one of your tripod legs and use it for attaching intervalometers, penlights (so you don’t accidentally bump the tripod in the dark), or any item that you need quick access to while working at the tripod. It’s best to attach the hook (rough) portion to the tripod and the loop (fuzzy) portion to your devices. Otherwise, the devices might stick to the dividers in your packs. Self-adhesive Velcro sticks to a bare tripod leg very well. If you have foam wrapping on the leg, you may have to add a little glue or you could use a narrow piece of loop Velcro to connect the joint.

Night Photography Tips is a nightly feature in which I give a quick tip for night photographers. It’s a way to share all the little things I do and think about in my night shooting, without boring you with my usual wordiness. If you have a tip you’d like to share, please email it to me and I might include it here, along with a link to your blog or website.

Did you like this post? Well, I sure would appreciate it if you told your friends. Thanks!
