Night Photography Tips–Spacing Out

I spend many nights away from home and car while out photographing. As long as I’m on the move, all is well. However, even during summer, it can get chilly while I’m waiting for an hours-long star-trail sequences to complete and I can’t always pack enough warm clothing. One thing I can always pack, though, is a lightweight space blanket. The one I use is made for two people, so I can wrap myself in it fully, just like in a sleeping bag.

Night Photography Tips is a nightly feature in which I give a quick tip for night photographers. It’s a way to share all the little things I do and think about in my night shooting, without boring you with my usual wordiness. If you have a tip you’d like to share, please email it to me and I might include it here, along with a link to your blog or website.
