Shoot Cityscapes In Winter

Cityscapes that don’t have illuminated buildings can look good, especially silhouetted structures with graphic lines, but typically you want to have a lot of lights on in a city landscape. Since you’re likely to shoot most cityscapes during twilight for the “blue hour” light, the best time for the lights is during winter evenings. It gets dark early enough in winter that many of the office buildings are still occupied during twilight and most of the stores are still open. Also, the vehicle traffic is high during evening twilight, which works well for recording light streaks.
