Paradise Falls & Anvil Horn
On page 429 I discuss Paradise Falls on Wolf Creek. Long ago I talked with someone who said the name Paradise Falls has also been used to reference a cascading area of Tuckasegee River just above its confluence with Tanasee Creek Reservoir. The locals refer to this area as Anvil Horn. I chose the name Paradise Falls for the one on Wolf Creek since it is definitely an established name, regardless of its origin. However, I have now heard from someone else regarding the confusion and I feel I should give the name its due. I don't know exactly what the situation is, but it appears that the name Paradise Falls first referred to the Anvil Horn area and has since been attributed to the falls on Wolf Creek. Anvil Horn is located on private property. On page 428, I mention two waterfalls that are upstream from the area, which are also on private property. |
