Here’s your chance to shoot the Milky Way during its prime and under the guidance of an expert. My little farm is an ideal dark-sky location for shooting the night sky, yet it is only 15 minutes away from Waynesville. You’ll shoot the Milky Way using foregrounds such as distant mountain ranges, trees, tents, and tractors. More info...


Summer Showy Wildflowers

The summer showy wildflowers of the southern Appalachian Mountains rival any show in the wildflower world. Unlike the shy spring ephemeral wildflowers, the summer flowers grow tall and bold, often in dense patches that scream for wide-angle lenses. During this all-day field workshop, we’ll explore the high-elevation regions of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Smokies where these wildflowers are prolific. As a special bonus for participants, I’ll be giving a program on photographing wildflowers on Friday evening, before our day in the field. More info...

What could be better than photographing some of the finest scenery, wildlife, and cultural history in the country? What if we did it under the guidance of one of the Smokies’ finest photographers? Bill Lea is widely recognized as an expert on photographing Great Smoky Mountains National Park, particularly the scenery and wildlife of Cades Cove. His book, Cades Cove - Window to a Secret World, contains some of the most inspiring photos ever captured of this remarkable pocket of the Smokies. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Bill on this special photo tour. More info...


Waterfalls of North Carolina
Extended One Day Photo Tour
October 9 – 10, 2015

Spend a full day exploring some of the lesser-known waterfalls of North Carolina with the person who knows them best! You’ll begin the day photographing the sunrise over the mountain ridges of Pisgah National Forest and then explore a minimum of four waterfalls. The day ends with an evening photo shoot at one of the best sunset locations in the southern Appalachians. As a special bonus for participants, I’ll be giving a program on photographing waterfalls on Friday evening, before our day in the field. More info...
