NIGHT SKIES & SPOOKY FORESTS
Here’s your chance to participate in a totally new photo tour adventure, unlike anything I’ve offered before. If you like photographing the night sky, including the Milky Way and star trails, you’ll want to join me for that reason alone. But wait until you see all the other exciting things we might be doing in the night. Light-painted forest scenes, car and flashlight streaking, tent and sky setups, and even mobster photos are among the possibilities. Fair warning: There’s really no telling what you’ll end up doing on this photo tour!

SKILL LEVEL
Attendees should have a firm understanding of how to change the exposure settings on their camera and be able to switch between manual and autofocus. And they should be able to do all this in the dark, without using a light. I’ll take it from there.
GENERAL ITINERARY
I do not establish a precise itinerary for photo tours ahead of time because I want to choose the subjects based on the weather and other conditions. We will meet in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 20. After orientation, I will give a program on night photography, showing many of the subjects you’ll be shooting during the photo tour. We’ll have dinner as a group and then head out for the night, beginning with sunset. On Thursday, we’ll meet in early afternoon for a classroom session during which I’ll demonstrate post-processing techniques using the photos you shot the night before. We’ll then go to dinner and head back out into the night for more shooting. On Friday, we’ll have a final classroom session of a couple hours before checking out.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a night-photography event, which means we will be staying up late at night. You’ll get to sleep in as late as you wish on day 2, but not as much on day 3. You should come prepared to alter your normal sleep pattern for the workshop.
LODGING & TRANSPORTATION
Lodging is not included and you are free to stay wherever you like. However, it is recommended that you stay at our host hotel, where we will have our Friday meeting. We will provide hotel info after you register. Transportation is included during the photo tour, but if you are staying at a different location, you’ll have to drive to and from the host hotel each day.
REGISTRATION & PAYMENT INFO
Full payment is required at the time of registration. You can register online by clicking the “Register Now” buttons on this page. If you prefer to pay by personal check, please contact me.
