Cedar Rock Falls

Overview

In The Land of Waterfalls, Tinsley lists a Cedar Rock Falls on Cedar Rock Creek, which flows into Catheys Creek a short distance upstream from Catheys Creek Falls. (Don’t confuse this with the Cedar Rock Creek that flows into the Davidson River near the fish hatchery.) Tinsley says the waterfall is “a series of ten or twelve drops, slips, and spills in heavy foliage and rugged terrain.” When I hiked the creek many years ago, I didn’t find any cascades worth mentioning, much less any significant waterfalls. I have spoken with a knowledgeable local person who verified that nothing but small cascades is along the creek.
